This workshop is open to anyone curious about cyanotype, whether you are brand new to the process or ready to explore it in more depth. This class will introduce techniques that help create beautiful, expressive prints while building confidence and creative control along the way.

In this class, you will learn how to use step wedges and exposure tests to better understand density and contrast. You will explore how to adjust exposures based on paper choice, UV intensity, and different digital printing methods. The workshop will also introduce the creation and use of digital negatives, helping translate digital images into striking cyanotype prints.

You will also learn botanical toning techniques using materials such as green tea, coffee, and safflower leaves to expand the cyanotype palette beyond blue. Through hands-on demonstrations and guided practice, you will see how timing, chemistry, and sequencing affect color shifts. The class will also introduce masking and selective exposure techniques, allowing you to create layered and dual-toned cyanotype prints.

Whether you are trying cyanotype for the first time or looking to deepen your skills, this workshop offers a supportive environment to experiment and explore. Participants will leave with test strips, toned and layered prints, and practical skills to continue creating at home.
