Bach & Mozart - The Debut of the West Marin Ensemble & Instrumental Society

Bach & Mozart – The Debut of the West Marin Ensemble & Instrumental Society
* Saturday, October 17, 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Pianist Jim Stopher performs Mozart’s D Minor Concerto, backed by a chamber orchestra of area professionals.  Continuing SDCA’s business model to create radically inclusive and quality high art that involves a broad spectrum of the West Marin community, a talented local group of all ages and levels in the West Marin Community will join the orchestra on the stage to play an arrangement of Bach.

This group includes a wide array: from experienced players who may not play classical repertoire regularly, adults who played music as kids – but for some reason or other shelved their instruments, adults who want to take the opportunity to learn an instrument and kids who have been playing for a little while – or are brand new to their instruments.

This event aims to demonstrate the joy of playing classical music with others, and with Stopher’s and the chamber orchestra’s masterful performances, inspire our friends and neighbors to show what is possible when applying discipline to musical craft,  Many in our society are alienated or intimidated by classical music, likely due to having very little knowledge or exposure to it.  To those folks, we endeavor to open up their worlds!
